The major industrial route involves the reaction of ethyleneand acetic acidwith oxygenin the presence of a palladium catalyst.
C2H4 + CH3CO2H+ 1⁄2 O2 → CH3CO2CHCH2+ H2O
The main side reaction is the combustion of organic precursors. Vinylacetate was once prepared by hydroesterification. This method involves thegas-phase addition of acetic acid to acetylenein the presence of metal catalysts. By this route, using mercury(II) catalysts, vinyl acetate was first prepared by Klatte in 1912. Another route to vinylacetate involves thermal decomposition of ethylidene diacetate:
(CH3CO2)2CHCH3→ CH3CO2CHCH2 + CH3CO2H
Packaging: ISOtank to load 22MT max
Vinyl Acetate is mainly used in the production of polyvinyl alcohol resin and synthetic fiber. The monomer can copolymerize the production of a variety of uses of adhesives; but also with vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, crotonic acid, acrylic acid, ethylene monomer copolymerization grafting, blocks and other properties made of high molecular synthetic materials.
1. Used of organic synthesis.
2. It is used in resin fiber synthesis, as intermediate and binder of oil depressant and thickener.
3. Widely used as binder, architectural coating, textile sizing agent and finishing agent, paper strengthening agent, and used in the manufacture of safety glass, etc.
